Overview

Step in off Sandymount Green and you enter another world, you are conveyed to modern India. The beaming welcome in Khushee puts a new meaning to Céad míle fáilte, a soft gentle Indian meaning – smiling faces shine out from the kitchen, the bar and across the buzzy dining room. The imposing mural of a fort in the Indian countryside in verdant splendour seems to have been the inspiration for this Indian oasis. The tones of the marbles and wonderful fabrics have their origins in the mural. Brass lampshades and lantern style light covers add to the most authentic ambience. Dining

Khushee translates to happiness, chirpiness, delightfulness … you will find this in abundance in their Sandymount dining room.

The Indian dining experience is one of plenty – small details like the oversized marble tables contribute to that sense of feasting. There is ample room for ‘plenty’ to be laid out in uncluttered extravagance.

The uber comfortable chairs are upholstered variously with beautiful fabric, leather and brass tacks. Here there is a sense of discreet Indian heritage.

Restaurant owners Tariq Salahuddin and Taquiuddin Mohammed had a very definite vision when they created Khushee. To guide their vision, both set their ethos to paper with Tariq stating, ‘Our food philosophy is infusing a modern scheme with traditional Indian cuisine and classic flavour – Khushee will create an expression of modern India’. Tariq and Taquiuddin have been meticulously true to their vision, however, also in abundance is the happiness, chirpiness and delightfulness of the Khushee name.

The authenticity of the cuisine at Khushee is guaranteed by the traditional chefs. Irish Lamb and Chicken are infused with freshly roasted spices. The tandoor oven creates further magic. The cooking here is ‘of a light hand’ with the fragrance release of spices that could have you imagining you are enjoying food in a tropical Indian garden.

Atarangi Lamb is a top speciality – Tender Irish Lamb simmered with Tomato, Onion and Saffron. The Chicken Tikka Masala has meltingly fresh chicken flame baked to order in the tandoor oven. Do have it with the Sesame Seed Naan – the naan also just out of the tandoor is as light as a feather. The extensive list of menu items includes firm favourites: Lamb Sheek Kebab, Bhatti Lamb Chops and indeed seven main courses in the vegan and vegetarian section. You could not leave without trying their Mango Lassi.

Pricing is very fair at Khusee with an added Early Bird Menu offered seven days a week.

Khushee in addition to the restaurant itself has a Private Dining Room and offer its Khushee at Home service.

Sustainability

Furthermore, their Khushee at Home range is packaged in their range of compostable and recyclable materials.
