Culinary & Cultural Weekend in Dublin City

Dublin City is a cultural capital that is rich in vibrancy and food. Let us show you the city as you’ve never seen it before.

It’s our belief that Dublin twinkles with hidden gems, that few ever really have the chance to experience. The Shelbourne Hotel’s majesty awaits, located on St. Stephen’s green this beautiful hotel has played house to numerous royalties, even on occasion the American President.

Wander up to your beautiful room, where no thought has been left uncatered for. Lie back in utter opulence, before taking a stroll to see the bustle of Grafton Street or perhaps in St. Stephen’s Green before dinner. This busy hive of a park is full of the city’s birds, small band stands and neat benches, it’s a pleasant way to pass a half hour, before returning to the Shelbourne to freshen up for dinner.

Dinner will be an extraordinary affair. Prepare yourself for Ireland’s best seasonal food, cooked with the most tender of touches. Here you will experience food that seems to have been composed for the plate, rather than placed on it. Each tasting course will be perfectly paired with an appropriate wine. Sip and eat the night away, before returning to the splendour of your room.

Wake gently in elegant surrounds, before indulging in a breakfast worthy of royalty. The Shelbourne gives everything the 5 Star touch, and your three nights here will each start the right way, with a hearty breakfast, light fruit salad, some porridge, fruit compote, local yoghurts, freshly ground coffees and squeezed juices. This truly is breakfast as it should be.

Set up for the day, Dublin is yours to explore. Take a tour of the Guinness Storehouse, leave time to sit back at the top and look out over Dublin. This is a spectacular view that allows you to see the full sprawl of Phoenix Park, Europe’s biggest city park, you might even spot the small dots of deer moving across the greens. Or look back to the city, at the Liffey River coursing through the middle, the bridges reaching across its rushing waters and the constant hive of people creating the famous Dublin atmosphere. Perhaps stop for lunch at Gilroys before making your way back to town.

Enjoy the liveliness of the city centre, perhaps take a visit to see Christ Church Cathedral before dinner. This beautiful Cathedral is a gorgeous monument to Dublin’s rich history. Marvel at the stained glass, and intricate architecture, before heading to The Merry Ploughboy for a truly traditional Irish dinner and live traditional Irish music, song and Irish dancing. Get up for a jig yourself, and always remember the feeling of jumping up and down to the sound of an ancient bodhrán.

Sleep in on Saturday after your shenanigans, then make your way to a Traditional Irish Bread Making Class. Feel the soft give of dough beneath your fingers, and steep yourself in another of Ireland’s deep rooted traditions. This is the heart of Irish cooking, right in the centre of Ireland’s biggest city.

Afterwards a Whiskey Tasting is on the menu, sip the drink our country is famed for distilled in its purest form. This is distilled magic, as is dinner, because next up is dinner at Chapter One, the famous Michelin Star Restaurant. Here the food will be served in its finest form on the plate, elegantly presented, you will taste original flamboyant flavours and see the heights that can be reached with seasonal local produce by Ireland’s finest chefs. Each dish is a work of art, sit back and admire the show, as you slowly savour each morsel.

Before you leave be sure to take a wander through Temple Bar, and drop into Trinity College. Here you will find the ancient Book of Kells, if you get a moment there’s always the Wax Museum, or even a trip to Dublin Zoo. The choice is yours, there are plenty of places to choose to eat from, Dublin is a culinary hub and we’ll be happy to recommend our family of members. Perhaps try our city centre vegan haven, or Irish food cooked with an Italian twist.
