Overview

The Bianconi is located in the centre of Killorglin, Co Kerry.

This boutique hotel and restaurant has a longstanding history of hospitality and has been hosting guests for over 150 years. It’s named after the successful Italian/Irish entrepreneur Charles Bianconi who in the mid-1800s started a passenger coach service around Munster connecting local towns and holiday routes. A number of Inns were established at the resting locations, one of these locations is The Bianconi Killorglin which has retained the name.

The current owners of The Bianconi, Hazel Daly and her husband Gerard, have raised the quality bar of this established hospitality business. It’s a charming mix of the old world hospitality culture combined with all the luxuries of modernity. The Bianconi has 15 spacious rooms finished to a very high standard. Visitors can expect a very warm Kerry welcome and caring personal service when they visit the Bianconi in Killorglin. The establishment lives by its motto –  ‘Where the locals call home’.

The menu at The Bianconi showcases the very best of local ingredients prepared with passion and enthusiasm.

 

The day we visited, we were spoiled for choice with a menu that begged for everything to be tried.

 

In the end, we tasted a starter of Honey & Thyme infused with fellow Good Food Ireland® Member, Bluebell Falls Goats Cheese and a signature dish for the main course, The Bianconi Seafood Cassoulet. The presentation, taste and quality were excellent. A must-try for those who cannot resist seafood when dining out!

 

This was matched with excellent and knowledgeable customer service. Feel free to query anything on the menu with your server, they will happily tell you all about the local provenance of the dish.

 

Each and every element of your experience at The Bianconi Restaurant from hospitality to their food and drink offering will leave you with pleasant warmth and appreciation. Something that this establishment exceeds in.

 

The bar at The Bianconi has an authentic and traditional atmosphere, harking back to its historic past. This is the perfect place to relax into your visit and someplace to enjoy a pre-dinner beverage. It’s tastefully decorated and it has interesting paintings, photographs and memorabilia of interest on display.
