The Village Butchers Shop is located in the heart of Ranelagh on the south side of the Dublin city centre. Although it is part of Dublin City it is very much a neighbourhood business. This family business is run by Butcher’s Michael Madden, Sarah Kelly and their daughter Jessica who is training in the business as a Butcher apprentice.

The Village Butcher

In terms of the offering and the quality, The Village Butcher is a small shop packing a big punch. This very eye-catching shop stands out from the crowd with its vibrant blue branding and its location across from the Triangle in Ranelagh in the shadow of the Luas stop. It can’t be missed!

The shop oozes quality food, fresh food and welcoming, professional and knowledgeable service. Behind the counter, you’ll be greeted with a smile by Michael and Sarah. You’ll also find daughter Jessica who is learning the tricks of the trade and soaking up all the invaluable knowledge from her mother Sarah. The future of this family business sure looks bright.

Customer service is truly at the heart of the business as customers are greeted by name, along with their valued suppliers. This really puts an emphasis on the ‘Village’ aspect of this butcher shop, it’s very much rooted in the local community.

Michael and Sarah will happily prepare your meat to your specifications and please don’t hesitate to get their advice on how to best cook and prepare. Their knowledge is astounding and it’s well worth the time to pick their brains.

The shop interior is modern and contemporary in style. Laid out in pristine fashion is the selection of prime and high-quality meats expertly prepared. You’ll get to witness the fascinating dry ageing process of their beef as in the shop they’ve placed their dry ageing chamber. A must-see for meat enthusiasts!

The shelves at The Village Butcher are also laden with a number of sauces and seasonings that can perfectly complement the meat and poultry offering. Many of these are sourced from local suppliers and Irish artisan producers. One such range you’ll find is from fellow Good Food Ireland® member Achill Island Sea Salt.
