The Pier House has a direct relationship with a Howth day boat operator to supply a variety of fresh fish when landed on the local pier yards from their front door.

At the Pier House Restaurant, Executive Head Chef David Walsh has introduced a classy menu with lots of innovation and a focus on local and Irish seasonal produce. When we visited, the highlight was the fresh West Coast of Ireland Oysters shipped to the restaurant from Achill Island and the skills displayed by the chef in preparing and cooking the fresh Halibut main course.

Some menu options other than fish include dry-aged beef and corn-fed Irish chicken. The Pier House have a relationship with a local Howth-based butcher to supply their locally sourced Irish beef and chicken.

There is a friendly and warm welcome on show when you arrive at The Pier House. The front-of-house team is led by manager Danielle and assistant manager Jacob. Between Chef David, Danielle and Jacob there is a great foundation of experience.

This was demonstrated by the menu knowledge shared with customers when considering their menu choice and the up-to-date skills shown by the bar staff on duty preparing a pre-dinner cocktail for a customer.

A full drinks menu features an exciting array of cocktails which include favourites such as an Espresso Martini and an Amaretto Sour among many other enticing options. The drinks menu also features a selection of wines to accompany your meal.

All of the dessert options are made fresh in-house and are expertly created with a richness of complementary flavours that will have your tastebuds tingling!

Sustainability

The team at The Pier House Restaurant have a number of practices in place centred around sustainability. These include local sourcing by priority. The day we visited the day boat fisherman that supplies The Pier House was delivering a selection of fresh fish from his daily catch. The Pier House has a direct supply arrangement in place to source their fresh fish requirements landed on the West Pier in Howth on a weekly basis.

Furthermore, all disposable materials are compostable and a full recycling management system is in place. All staff are trained on these procedures to ensure consistency across the board.

The premises is also fully fitted with LED lighting for energy conservation. Moreover, the energy used by The Pier House includes a mains supply of natural gas.
