The hallmark of the Tranquil Tea Rooms is the fresh food baked and prepared every morning. Patricia Neylon, who trained with the legendary Darina and Rory Allen at Ballymaloe Cookery School is the passion behind this business.
Patricia is in the Tea Rooms kitchen every morning baking and preparing for the day ahead. When the ‘open’ sign is flipped on the door at 9.30am the Tea Room regulars are waiting for their morning fix of fresh coffee or tea and a treat. As you enter the tea rooms the air is filled with the aroma of fresh baking and the taste buds are tingling in anticipation.
Visitors to the Tranquil Tea Rooms will not be disappointed, they can expect a choice of freshly baked treats. For all of Patricia’s baking, she uses Cuinneog butter and buttermilk.
The day we visited, Patricia had a tray of delicious raspberry scones just out of the oven, the scones were generous in size and the taste was amazing! The scones were presented with fresh Irish jam, butter and cream on the side.
In addition to the fresh scones, a signature of the Tranquill Tea Rooms includes coffee cake, fresh fruit almond tart, homemade soup, homemade open sandwiches including smoked Irish Salmon, baked ham, salads, etc.
Matching Patricia’s local philosophy, another authentic touch at the Tranquil Tea Rooms is the use of Irish made pottery by Geffrey Healy from Co. Wicklow. Which gives you an all-round local food and crafts experience!
On a nice day, diners make use of the attractive outdoor terrace to the rear of the tea rooms.

Superb!
This “jewel” is well worth visiting. The atmosphere is this cafe is second to none. Given that this cafe is located in a cemetery, the sensitivity that Patricia & her team has for each person crossing their threshold is palpable. As for the food, it is superb! What Patricia has created here is very very special indeed.
Perfect Tranquility!
