INCHING INTO THE COUNTRYSIDE
Deep in the heart of the Tipperary countryside, golden corn fields are being cut and baled ready for winter. Wood pigeons feast on stray corn husks, becoming so plump they can hardly take off after the feed. Late evening sunlight casts an idyllic glow on rolling hills. Amid this rural scene, an old country house makes ready to welcome overnight residents and diners to it’s fine restaurant. Inch House is a working farm and Country House accommodation. Owned and run by the Egan family, this house has been a family home lovingly restored, still retaining the family feel for those who choose to stay here. Added to the attractions of majestic period architecture, comfortable drawing room, cosy bar and characterful restaurant, a new farm walk through the grounds of Egan farmland works up an appetite for what’s to come at the table. The walk can be joined at any point. Maps are provided at the house. A gentle stroll by the banks of the Cromoge River, past the house and Inch Church, along the woodlands of Toberfelim, this is a walk to be taken any time of year. See how the countryside changes with the seasons. Enjoy the peace this part of Ireland offers. Afterwards, expect to savour a sumptous dinner which includes Nora Egan’s farmhouse made award winning Inch House Black Pudding, Irish pork, lamb, chicken or beef and fresh fish and shellfish. A set menu is served midweek, with a full a la carte at weekends. Inch House restaurant is open to residents and the public. What a treat in store. Seek out Inch House. You’ll be glad you did.
