Irish Gold Potatoes originate in Dublin. The fields are out in Garristown and the potato is harvested as a main crop potato.
There is a delicious history surrounding this creamy new variety of Irish Potato.
There are two stalwarts of the Irish potato industry Buddy Mathews and Harry Keogh that were responsible for creating this new nugget of Ireland.
The background is fascinating in that Harry Keogh had worked in Teagasc and was also responsible for developing the household name potato variety Rooster. Buddy Mathews and Harry Keogh were great friends and together they created new Irish Gold.
Irish Gold is a new variety of a creamy Irish potato.
These wonderful tubers are full of antioxidants and have the same kind of Super Food quality as a blueberry.
There are countless ways to enjoy a bag of Irish Gold Potatoes. Par-boil, then slather in goose fat and stick in the oven. In no time you’ll have crispy golden goodness with your roastie potatoes.
