Dining

Since opening in 2022, food lovers and locals have been flocking to Wild Thyme Restaurant. Here, Chef & Proprietor Karl Breen has utilised the very best local Irish ingredients and presented them to diners in a compelling style.

 

For a more casual dining offering, The Saddle Bar is located on-site too. Here you can relax in front of the fire with a pint as you enjoy a delicious meal that all is about the best pub & bar food done in the elegant Wild Thyme style.

 

Wild Thyme Restaurant is open Thursday through to Sunday if you’re planning a trip to Monaghan. They also do a lovely Sunday Lunch which is very popular. Booking in advance is recommended.

Wild Thyme Restaurant encompasses great hospitality and a culinary offering that seamlessly blends local Irish flavours in an exciting contemporary style.

 

During our visit, Chef prepared for us a starter of Rosslare Crab. This was so fresh to taste and the balance of flavours and ingredients was absolutely mouthwatering.

 

For the main course, we sampled the Silverhill Duck, sourced from just up the road in Emyvale. The Silverhill Duck was complemented flawlessly with beetroot that enhanced the flavour while also being cooked to perfection.

 

Other choice selections from the menu include Wild Irish Game Wicklow Venison, Irish Hereford Beef and also options for vegans and vegetarians.

 

The fine quality of the menu and dishes was also matched by the precision and care taken with plating. Some say many of us eat with our eyes and if that’s the case, you wouldn’t be able to resist eating out at Wild Thyme Restaurant.

 

The menu at Wild Thyme Restaurant is complemented by a fabulous drinks menu and cocktails too that have become famous for their flavour and decadence. During our visit, we got the chance to try out their Raspberry Gin concoction. Served with ice and mint, once again the depth of flavour was amazing and so refreshing. You’ll also find a lovely wine list that Sinéad and her team will happily recommend which wines pair best with certain dishes.

 

Overall, an evening at Wild Thyme Restaurant encompassed a heart-warming meal for a snowy winter’s night. We can easily understand how this restaurant has become known for destination dining, offering that exciting contemporary dining experience away from the city lights at home in the Monaghan countryside.
