A Culinary Journey at Lough Erne Resort
Our recent dining experience at Lough Erne Resort was a delightful exploration of Irish cuisine. The menu showcased a masterful blend of local produce and innovative culinary techniques, resulting in a truly memorable dining experience.
We started our evening with Chef’s Artisan Inspiration – Ballylisk Cheese Pastry Bun. This exceptional appetiser showcased the incredible flavours of Northern Ireland. The buttery pastry enveloped a generous filling of Ballylisk Cheese, its tanginess perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the port mustard and the textural contrast of the smoked almond. It was a symphony of flavours that left us craving more.
Then came a standout starter: the Lough Neagh Smoked Eel. This delicate dish was a revelation, with the smokiness of the eel perfectly balanced by the acidity of the pickled apple and the umami depth of the dashi. The combination was both unexpected and utterly delicious.
For the main course, we were torn between the succulent Thornhill Duck Breast and the enticing Mill Dam Flax Fed Irish Beef Fillet. Ultimately, we opted for both, allowing us to savour the distinct flavours of each. The duck was cooked to perfection, with the tender breast complemented by the sweet pear and the rich confit leg. The beef fillet, sourced from Mill Dam Flax Fed Irish, was a testament to the quality of Irish beef, cooked to a medium-rare tenderness and paired beautifully with the salt-baked celeriac and truffle mushroom.
Overall, our dining experience at Lough Erne Resort was exceptional. The commitment to showcasing local produce together with culinary innovation is evident in every dish. We were particularly impressed by the creativity and execution of the menu, and we would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly memorable dining experience in Northern Ireland.
