FOOD FOR BODY AND SOUL
The Saint’s Path – Cosan na Naoimh – is one of the wonders of the Dingle Peninsula. The walk, from Ventry Strand to the foot of Mount Brandon, is the way of the worshippers of pagan times. They traversed this beautiful peninsula right to the top of Mount Brandon. Ancient Christian Pilgrims have long adopted this walk and it’s spiritual value to the faith. Along the way, Gallurus Oratory is a corballed stone building – a pointed dome of perfectly cut stones, hauled by hand from Dingle stone beds. The building dates back to at least the 12th Century if not before that. It’s thought to have been a place for pilgrims and worshippers to find shelter on their travels. The Saint’s Path takes in this and other sights of the famous Kerry area, known for it’s strong links to the Irish language and traditions. The walk is just under 20km – a good day out for those fit enough! You don’t have to walk the whole route though to gain some spiritual calmness and relaxation though. The scenery here is stunning so even a short part of the journey will leave you refreshed.During this summer through to October, you can Walk With The Celts as part of a special deal at Gorman’s Clifftop House and Restaurant.
