This week, Good Food Ireland® was delighted to represent the very best of Irish food on the international stage! We were invited to Milan by Tourism Ireland and Ireland West Airport to showcase our incredible All-Island Good Food Ireland® Collection to international media and tour operators.
The highlight of the trip was crafting a special dinner for 80 guests, celebrating the launch of the new Ryanair flights from Milan to Ireland West Airport. To ensure an authentic Irish experience, we flew in all the ingredients from our esteemed Good Food Ireland® producers and collaborated with the chefs at Winter Garden Hotel to create a unique “Good Food Ireland® Showcase Experience” menu.
Our guests embarked on a culinary journey through Ireland, starting with a selection of fresh seafood delights including Croagh Patrick Seafoods Irish Oysters, Kelly’s of Newport “Putog,” and a showcase of three distinct smoked salmon varieties from Connemara Smokehouse, Burren Smokehouse, and Delphi Lodge & Estate. The evening was a fascinating exploration of traditional smoking methods, highlighting the unique characteristics of each producer.
For the cheese course, we presented a selection of farmhouse cheeses from Boyne Valley Goat Cheese, Aran Goat Cheese, and Milleens, perfectly paired with the incredible wild Irish honey from Sliabh Aughty Honey / Leahy Beekeeping and Delphi Lodge & Estate’s delectable chutney.
No Good Food Ireland® experience is complete without a taste of our legendary Tom Durcan Traditional Spiced Beef. And to cap off the evening, we treated our guests to freshly baked Irish Soda Bread made with Jinny’s Bakery ingredients, served with the quintessential Kerrygold Butter and Achill Island Sea Salt. Finally, we presented a sweet ending with Wilde Irish Chocolates Caramels and Achill Island Salted Fudge.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this evening a resounding success! We were thrilled to meet our Italian guests and reconnect with esteemed Irish trade friends. A lucky journalist and tour operator even won a Good Food Ireland® Experience at Cashel House Hotel and Kilronan Castle Estate & Spa, part of our esteemed Collection.
