Overview

Called ‘the best technology conference on the planet’ with a stellar line-up of speakers and attendees, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to the most exciting start-ups in the world, the Web Summit partnered with Good Food Ireland® to deliver the Food Summit.

Web Summit CEO Paddy Cosgrave approached our Founder Margaret Jeffares to work with Good Food Ireland® to produce the best quality local dining experience for his 20,000 delegates in a green field over the three days of the conference. He wanted his visitors from 100+ countries, many coming to Ireland for the first time to be served top quality Irish food from small producers all over Ireland and this he could be assured of with Good Food Ireland®. There was a further requirement to provide private breakfasts, lunches and dinners for a select group of corporate sponsors over the three-day period and on the final night a gala party for 1,000 of the world’s top media, corporate founders and key invited guests.

All Menus had to offer much variety and take into account multiple dietary requirements, not just allergy demands but cultural and individual beliefs as well.

We work with you to create your perfect event!

We proposed an Irish food and drink showcase whereby we would craft a collaborative menu and bring together producers and chefs from all over the island who would not just make the dishes but also serve them.

Delegates would have the unique opportunity to meet the people behind the food, from the chefs to the cheesemakers, the ice cream producers, the fruit growers, the bakers, the oyster farmers and many more. The Marquee and services would be provided by the client but we would be required to build the kitchen and all associated requirements ensuring food safety compliance. Once our proposal was accepted, we immediately set about appointing our Project Team.

WE KNOW OUR FOOD AND OUR PEOPLE

We carefully selected chefs and food and drink producers from all over the island of Ireland who worked with us to create an experience, the like of which had never happened in our country before.

A menu was drawn up that reflected Ireland’s wonderful produce and best culinary talent. Having completed the flow management plan, we worked with our client on all other aspects, installed a full kitchen inside the marquee and implemented food safety compliance. A massive coordinated operational plan, that would manage a production team of over 650 people was then put in place.

THE IMPACT IS IMMENSE

Over 250 Good Food Ireland® approved businesses, food and drink producers and chefs from Ireland’s leading restaurants, hotels, pubs, cafes, food shops and cookery schools were all involved. We created over 50,000 hot food dishes over the three days and food producers ramped up their production to undreamed of levels, with ice cream makers trying to find freezer space like never before, as our selected producers and artisans began their preparations for this historic event.

Almost 2,000 kilos of Irish farmhouse cheese were eaten, with an equivalent quantity of relish, 35,000 Waterford blaas and Ulster soda farls, along with an extraordinary 9,000 pots of delicious Irish yoghurts. Add to that the thousands of shortbread biscuits, apples, crisps, tubs of ice cream and handmade chocolates that were enjoyed.

Good Food Ireland® can always be guaranteed to come up with a few surprises. This happy family of chefs, cooks, restaurants, hotels, B&B’s, guesthouses, pubs, cafes, cookery schools, food and drink producers and shops, brings only the very best Irish ingredient-led experience to the table. That’s a given.

For the Food Summit with Good Food Ireland® we came up with a special and innovative way to enjoy the food of our island – in the form of the Pop-Up Good Food Ireland® Restaurant experience. We brought the chefs out of their familiar kitchens, into an arena specially designed to showcase their cooking skills. Some familiar and household names of the cooking world, plus the country’s top chefs, created dishes that involved conscientious sourcing and commitment to Irish produce.

Created with flair and diversity by the Masters of their craft, it was a unique dining experience in unusual surroundings. The Good Food Ireland® Pop-Up Restaurant was a one-off opportunity for delegates to enjoy specially devised dishes, made from Irish farm reared meats, fresh fish and seafood from Irish waters, and a wealth of artisan and farmhouse specialities. Bringing together the Good Food Ireland® family and ethos on a world stage, it greatly enhanced the delegate experience, changed much perception and grew Ireland’s food and culinary reputation.

Good Food Ireland® was honoured to win the inaugural “Best Food Experience” at the Irish Tourism Industry (ITIC) Awards.

Just had an amazing meal and if you like seafood best in Dublin

My husband, turned 50 yesterday the 16th of November. I booked dinner for 6.30pm for 8 adults and three children. We were welcomed by Gillian and brought into the bar which has a roaring fire on…we sat in armchairs and had a drink while the took our orders. It was the first night of their winter menu and it didn’t disappoint. We were brought to our table and moments later our starter arrived. Not a single complaint about anything. The spring rolls were huge! Our main courses arrived at the perfect amount of time between courses and everyone cleaned their plates. I especially loved the honey roasted parsnips…delicious. I’m a dessert fan and always save myself for it…it was amazing. I had the carrot cake with carrot sorbet….heaven on a plate…everyone loved their meal and the birthday boy has done nothing but rave about the food since. Thank you all for making his birthday such a pleasurable one that none of us will forget. Keep up the amazing work….you need to do culinary classes…and I’d be there.

This “jewel” is well worth visiting. The atmosphere is this cafe is second to none. Given that this cafe is located in a cemetery, the sensitivity that Patricia & her team has for each person crossing their threshold is palpable. As for the food, it is superb! What Patricia has created here is very very special indeed.

This little gem of a cafe is a lovely cosy place to meet serving wonderful food. Its the kind of place that you don’t want to leave . The food is amazing, you are made to feel very welcome and is very comfortable. It is a wonderful asset to the village and is a wonderful meeting place for the whole community. I would highly recommend a visit.
