Good Food Ireland presents The K Club
A feast for the ages in Celebration of St. Brigid’s 1500 Anniversary

Immediate Release - January 2024

Good Food Ireland®  is delighted to present The K Club, Co. Kildare, paying homage to one of Ireland’s most illustrious trailblazers, St. Brigid, in the most delicious of ways – a special one-off feast night ahead of the bank holiday weekend, held within the very County she made her own.

Created in partnership with County Wicklow’s Powerscourt Distillery, the exclusive dinner on Friday 2nd February in the resort’s acclaimed Barton Restaurant will be an intimate event.

Marking 1500 years since the passing of Ireland’s foremost female saint, the extraordinary evening will bridge the gap between the ancient past and the vibrant present, commencing with an elegant drinks reception at 6.30pm that will see the pouring of specially created St. Brigid’s Cloak cocktails.

Guests will then sit down to a three course feast inspired by the seasonality of St. Brigid’s springtime Saint’s Day, and popular tales from her life including transforming lakes into beer, and miraculously replenishing supplies of the food she so generously shared with the poor including bacon and all the butter and cheese from her dairy.

Delectable dishes will include: a starter of Fercullen Falls Whiskey-cured & hickory-smoked organic salmon with cauliflower bavarois, salted cucumber & Goatsbridge Farm trout caviar; main course of The K Club garden’s mint-crusted rack of Kilcullen spring lamb with carrot puree, Velvet Cloud cheese fondu & rosemary jus; and Fercullen Falls Whiskey-infused rum baba, with whipped Velvet Cloud cream.

Adding to the roster of fascinating women, world-class sommelier Lisa O’Doherty will introduce carefully selected wine pairings from ChĂ¢teau Haut-Brisson in Bordeaux (whose wine barrels are currently being used to age Powerscourt’s 21-year-old Fercullen Irish Whiskey), whilst Powerscourt’s resident food historian Santina Kennedy will regale assembled feasters with tales from St. Brigid’s life and legacy, plus pairings from Powerscourt’s fine collection of whiskeys to boot.

Raise your glasses to our country’s most inspirational feminist icon and joyfully feast in her honour. Places at St. Brigid’s Feast cost €105 per person. Stay overnight for €235 per person including breakfast and St Brigid’s dinner.
