Overview

Western Herd Brewing Company is a brother-sister team brewing beer the way nature intended. The brewery is on a rural farm on the Wild Atlantic Way in County Clare and the beer is freshly brewed using natural spring water directly from the farmhouse well.

Meet The Maker

Maeve Sheridan and her brother Michael Eustace are the co-founders of the Western Herd Brewing Company, which is located on a farm that has been in the family for generations. Wanting to keep the farm going as a viable business, but not wanting to get up at the crack of dawn to milk cows, they set up a brewing company on the land instead.

Established in 2015, the Western Herd Brewing Company sits on a hill in the middle of a farm in rural Clare. It is very picturesque. As children, when visiting the farm, Michael and Maeve would often think ‘if only we could bottle this’. And now they are, with their beer having a unique taste of the landscape thanks to the spring water used in the brewing process which comes from a farm well.

At full capacity, the Western Herd Brewing Company is capable of brewing the equivalent of 350,000 pints of beer (2,000 HL). Using a large brew kettle, four fermentation tanks and one bright beer tank the company produces five different styles of craft beers; Pale Ale, Witbier, Red Ale, IPA and Porter.

The brewing expertise is led by Master Brewer Bridger Kelleher from Montana, who brings a wealth of knowledge to the business.

Western Herd Brewing Company has built up a following for its beer and is distributing to businesses in Co Clare and along the western seaboard – over 90 per cent of sales are within 50km of the brewery.

If you’re looking to expand your love of craft beers, we suggest you keep an eye out for this range of beers. You’ll enjoy the great taste of place you’ll get with every sip.

Sustainability

The Western Herd Brewing Company is a wonderfully sustainable business. Its beer is 95 per cent water which comes from a fresh water spring drawn from a well on the farm. The packaging used for canning is 100 per cent recyclable and the fresh water used in the heat exchange process is reused in the cleaning process as part of a water conservation strategy.
