Overview
Wexford Home Preserves has a number of delicious ranges of jams and preserves and is passionate about sourcing its fruit from local farmers including fellow Good Food Ireland member, Mr Jeffares Blackcurrants.Meet The Maker
Down in deepest Wexford in 1988, Ellen O’Leary first made jams under the Wexford Home Preserves label. This lady created quite a stir, gaining a great reputation for her beautiful jams, handmade from local homegrown fruit. Ellen established a business that thrives today, thanks to her nephew Tom Sinnott and his wife Laura who manage the company.
Using local growers like Des Jeffares of Mr Jeffares Blackcurrants to supply the wholesome fresh fruit for the range, the Sinnott family have created jams and preserves that perfectly capture the taste of Ireland.
Wexford Home Preserves has won several awards including Wexford business of the year, Great Taste Awards and the Irish Quality Food Awards. This family-owned company have a number of delicious ranges of jams and preserves and are passionate about sourcing their fruit from local farmers.
Wexford Preserves use the traditional open pot method of cooking. Just like you would make preserves yourself at home – with a good preserving pan, best quality fruit, and a wooden spoon for stirring until it has reached the right consistency and set. After that, it’s quickly put into jars and sealed, keeping all that wholesome fruity taste inside and as fresh as the day it was made, for you to taste at home. Spread some lovely fruity jam on a warm buttered scone and top with whipped Irish cream, and you’ve got bliss on a plate.
This is a family business in every aspect. Laura’s sister, an accomplished artist, has created some superb artwork for Wexford Preserves gourmet range named ‘Ellen’s Choice’, after Aunt Ellen O’Leary. Flavours include Wexford Blackcurrant and Rum Jam, Strawberry and Vanilla Jam and Raspberry and Bramley Apple Jam. All of which shout the summer very loudly in their flavours. Three marmalades complete the collection, just perfect for spreading on your morning toast. All labels are adorned with images of meadow flowers, while the caps depict local scenes of Dunbrody Abbey, Hook Lighthouse, Irish National Heritage Park and The Kennedy Trail.
The company now supplies over 350 shops nationwide.
