Following on from the romance of Valentine’s Day  – Good Food Ireland has just launched a competition on our Facebook page to find Ireland’s most romantic couple. What are the things that make romance blossom in a relationship? Does the love of your life have spur of the moment ideas for romantic gestures? Are there small things you do for one another every day that ensure love stays alive and vibrant, no matter what your circumstances? Of course the thing that makes a gesture truly romantic is the surprise element. Anyone can give romantic gifts on typical occasions like anniversaries and Valentine’s Day. But it’s the unusual and totally unexpected acts that take your breath away! Things that show affection –  when you least anticipate them. Here’s a few which have wowed us in the past:  A surprise trip to see a heart shaped lake, a bunch of early summer wild flowers picked from the fields and brought home on an ordinary weekday, a picnic for two enjoyed on a mountain in the moonlight, a present of a natural heart shaped stone plucked from the sand on a windswept beach, a picture of a smiley face drawn on a notepad with a simple message, left on the kitchen table to bring cheer in the morning, dinner on the stove and The Princess Bride movie lined up on the DVD after a hard day at work. Can you beat those? If so we’d like to know!  The most original and utterly romantic stories will win dinner for two in the splendid setting of one of our Good Food Ireland restaurants.
