CRUISING IN CLONAKILTY

Are you and your ‘homies’ looking for a hip place to cruise this summer? Clonakilty hits the spot.  All’s good in the ‘hood down in West Cork! The Wild Atlantic Way swings by this lively seaside town. Lot’s going on. In the centre of things, great pubs and bars for the craic, trad music and tv sports coverage (World Cup watchers take note…).  Boutiques and galleries to browse. A farmer’s market every Thursday and Friday sees some of West Cork’s finest producers out in force, selling their wares. A short drive away, Inchydoney beach is a playground paradise  for all generations – miles of beach to comb, surf school, sunbathing, sandcastle building, body boarding, picnicking and beach barbies galore. Clonakilty is doing us proud with a cluster of Good Food Ireland Providers spreading the gourmet message to residents and visitors. Taste @ Gearoidins, Scannell’s Lunchroom, Micheal O’Neill’s butcher’s shop (for super local meats if you’re self catering – try the Inchydoney beef and steaks from Angus cattle reared on pastures overlooking the Atlantic Ocean) and Richy’s Bar and Bistro are all located in Clonakilty. News from Richy’s is the launch of the summer menu and programme of events. Click the link to see Richy’s latest newsletter. He’ll tell you all about it! We reckon Clonakilty is a superb spot for a break away. Forget Nice or Cannes, here is West Cork’s version of ‘hip and happening’,  ready to meet you…
