Sheep Shearing is a traditional skill. Many’s  the sheep farmer who has had the skills of removing the wool from a live sheep taught to him at his grandfather’s elbow.  Expertise and technical proceedure is passed down through generations. A gathering of sheep shearing professionals will gather in Gorey, Co. Wexford, in May. The 16th Golden Shears World Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships 2014 runs in the town from 22nd-25th May. Competition will be rife and the event is expected to attract thousands of visitors and internation media during the week. Good Food Ireland Providers will be feeding the throngs – the only food providers present at this presitigious Championship. They will gather in The Good Food Ireland Village, which will be the hub of great local produce during the event. Not just great food, but cookery demonstrations in the state of the art Bosch demonstration kitchen, plus talks and a chance to meet the providers face to face. .
