ONE FOR THE GIRLS…

Did your true love send you twelve drummers drumming, eleven pipers piping, ten Lords a leaping and etc, this morning?  It is the twelfth day of Christmas after all!  January 6th marks the official end of the Christmas season. In Christian faiths, it also celebrates Epiphany, a feast day honouring the revelation of the Baby Jesus as the Son of God, to the three wise men who visited his manger bearing gifts. In Ireland the date also marks Women’s Little Christmas, a day when the girls get time off to treat themselves after all the hard work of the last couple of weeks. It’s a day when traditionally, the man of the house took on all the household duties whilst his woman was waited on hand and foot! In modern times, it has become a day when groups of female friends and family gather to go out, usually for a meal. Many restaurants and hotels have organised Women’s Little Christmas menus, with food, wine and dancing afterwards. A more simple approach is to have the girl’s round for drinks and nibbles at home or go out for a glamourous and stylish Champagne Afternoon Tea. What are you doing this evening to honour Women’s Little Christmas? Whatever it is, we hope you enjoy the close of the Christmas season for this year!
