WE WON!!

A brilliant night was had by all on Friday 24th February  in Dublin.  The ladies of the Good Food Ireland team were all decked out in their finest gladrags to attend the inaugural Irish Tourism Awards.  And guess what?! Good Food Ireland collected the award in the Best Food Experience category for The Food Summit with Good Food Ireland at the Web Summit. The Irish Tourism Awards recognise the country’s most successful and innovative tourism products, services and experiences. They are organised and presented by the Irish Tourist Industry Confederation, ITIC’s industry members, Fáilte Ireland, and Tourism Ireland.

The massive collaboration betwen Good Food Ireland and Web Summit took place last November 2014, where  over 250 Good Food Ireland providers fed 20000 delegates from over 100 countries over four days. Some great stats on the amounts consumed include 35000 slices Irish ham and beef eaten, 54000 tastings of chutneys and relishes, 10000 tubs of ice cream served, 432,000 tastings of Irish lamb, fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables and 480,000 tastings of Irish dairy yogurts and desserts. Wow!

It’s brilliant to have the effort of members recognised in such a huge way, by winning this award at the very first award ceremony to recognise Food Tourism initiatives. ‘ It was a phenomenal achievement to have pulled off the Food Summit with Good Food Ireland, and this award is the highest recognition that we could have received. I am deeply humbled by the massive support and goodwill behind our innovation and our contribution to Ireland’s economy” said Margaret Jeffares, Founder, Good Food Ireland.

So there you have it, straight from the boss’s mouth! She’s delighted! And so are the rest of the team. This latest honour really stands to  all the members who provided food, time and services over the course of the Web Summit event. Brilliant,  award winning work!
