Wexford Home Preserves

Down in deepest Wexford in 1988, Ellen O’Leary first made jams under the Wexford Home Preserves label. This lady created quite a stir, excuse our pun, gaining a great reputation for her beautiful jams, handmade from local home grown fruit. Ellen established a business that thrives today, under the watchful eye of her nephew Tom Sinnott and his wife Laura.

Using local growers like Des Jeffares of Mr Jeffares Blackcurrants to supply the wholesome fresh fruit for the range, the Sinnott’s have created jams and preserves with the taste of Ireland about them. Take the lid off a jar of Wexford Strawberry Jam and you can almost here the birds singing and the bees buzzing on a beautiful summer’s day in the sunny South East, as the fruit was hand picked fresh from the plants. We’re not joking .

Wexford  Preserves use the traditional open pot method of cooking. Just like you would make preserves yourself at home – with a good preserving pan, best quality fruit, and a wooden spoon for stirring until it has reached the right consistency and set. After that it’s quickly put into jars and sealed, keeping all that wholesome fruity taste inside and as fresh as the day it was made, for you to taste at home. Spread some lovely fruity jam on a warm buttered scone  or top with whipped Irish cream, and you’ve got bliss on a plate. Just pour the tea and you’re sorted!

Laura and Tom firmly believe in keeping things as local as possible, sourcing much of their fruit for the jam range in Wexford.  Wexford Preserves is a sustainable food business which supports local growers where possible, adding to the economy of the area and producing a selection of jams which fully represent where they were made. Adding to the main collection of preserves and meeting the demand for sugar reduction in the diet, is the sugar free range.

This is a family business in every aspect. Laura’s sister, an accomplished artist, has created some superb artwork for Wexford Preserves gourmet range named ‘Ellen’s Choice’, after Aunt Ellen O’Leary. Flavours include Wexford Blackcurrant and Rum Jam, Strawberry and Vanilla Jam and Raspberry and Bramley Apple Jam. All of which shout the summer very loudly in their flavours. Three marmalades complete the collection, just perfect for spreading on your morning toast. All labels are adorned with images of meadow flowers, while the caps depict local scenes of Dunbrody Abbey, Hook Lighthouse, Irish National Heritage Park and The Kennedy Trail.

Wexford Home Preserves are proud to have created their own Organic Range of Preserves. They’ve carefully sourced their fruit and combined this with their winning and pracrticed method of jam making to create a delicious range of products that will no doubt become a regular purchase for your weekly shop. You can enjoy flavours such as Organic Blackberry & Apple Jam, Organic Strawberry Jam,  Organic Raspberry Jam along with Organic Marmalades.

Wexford Preserves are available in shops nationwide, and we fully believe they will be pleasing the nation for years to come!
