WORLD LEADERS GATHER

When Ferghal Purcell, General Manager of Lough Erne Resort in Fermanagh met with UK Prime Minister David Cameron, as the announcement was made in November 2012 that Lough Erne had been chosen to host the 39th G8 Summit, he reported later how much he and his staff were ‘looking forward to giving the delegates, guests and world media a true Northern Irish welcome’. Prime Minister Cameron announced ‘I think this will make a great advertisement for Northern Ireland.’ We tend to agree with him. This fine resort has everything any guest needs – whether you’re a World Leader or a discerning traveller seeking out the best. Five star accommodation, nestling on a 600 acre private estate peninsula between Lower Lough Erne and Castle Hume Lough. Magnificent grounds, fishing, golfing – just an hour and a half away from Dublin and Belfast and minutes away from lively Enniskillen Town. Of course Good Food Ireland is very proud also, that the important people in politics will get to enjoy a fine taste of what the region has to offer. This former Good Food Ireland winner of Top Regional Member for the North, is flying the Northern Irish food flag very high indeed. Executive Chef Noel McMeel is more than ready to take up the challenge of feeding all the Heads of State in great Northern Irish style. We don’t know what he has planned – except that Glastry Ice Cream is certainly on the menu!  The good news is: You don’t have to be a Head of State to visit here. Lough Erne is open to all – with some great deals for breaks away. Family deals, Gourmet and Golfing breaks – they have them all. Check them out and enjoy a bit of World Leader living for yourself this year.  Enniskillen is only a short drive from Lough Erne, Julie Snoddy’s daytime Frou Frou Café in the town centre and Lavender Room on the outskirts, showcase the fine scones, breads, tarts and cakes she loves to bake. Newforge House in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, offers luxury accommodation in a Georgian Villa and fine local country house fayre on the menu. Easily accessed from Enniskillen via the A4 and M1 in approximately an hour,  and 30 minutes drive from Belfast International and City airports and ferry terminals.
