FRIDAY FOOD FACT – FOOD ON THE EDGE
Three more sleeps till Food On The Edge kicks off in Galway on Monday 19th October. Organised by Jp McMahon and a dedicated team of committed food campaigners, this conference promises to be one of the most influential and important in the calendar this year.
Speakers include an international selection of chefs. With a theme of ‘The Future of Food’ – each one gets 15 minutes to put his or her take on how the food industry will develop in the coming years. Homegrown talent includes Paul Flynn, Wade Murphy, Mark Moriarty, Jess Murphy, Kevin Thornton and Ross Lewis. All the names here are huge – every chef has in some way changed the way food is percieved and enjoyed. Groundbreaking work has been done between these guys to form a body of professionals with a bank of knowledge second to none.
We congratulate Symposium Director Jp McMahon, one of our trusted members of Good Food Ireland, on gathering such an esteemed collection of speakers to this inaugural conference. At Aniar, Jp has introduced the beauty of local, wild and foraged ingredients to an exquisitely presented Michelin starred menu, which has seen grown men crying as they remember the old fashioned tastes of seaweed and other local specialities their mothers used when they were children. This is what food is all about – evoking memories and bringing joy in every mouthful. We look forward to hearing what the speakers have to say about the future of the food industry – in an age where giants like Monsanto attempt to bully the world into using GM crops, family eating habits are disrupted, thousands of people are displaced and homeless, and obesity is rife. Where is the food world going? If anyone should have the answers – this list of experts should. There are set to be some real revelations in each powerful 15 minute speech.
