Overview

Mikey Ryan’s Bar & Kitchen is a destination Gastropub located on Main St Cashel, Co Tipperary. This distinctly Irish eatery was purchased by the current owners in 2016, and they undertook an extensive renovation of the property. This traditional pub and grocery shop has had a total transformation, opening and launching as the delicious Mikey Ryan’s in 2017. The ethos and food provenance of Mikey Ryan’s is based on the very best quality of Co Tipperary and Irish ingredients, the chefs at Mikey Ryan’s kitchen use organic produce when available from local farmers and artisan producers.

Dining

Mikey Ryan’s presents as a traditional bar, lounge and snug serving food and refreshments, leading through to a bistro restaurant set out in 3 spaces and a very impressive outdoor walled garden developed for outdoor dining, hospitality and relaxation.

 

The standard of design and décor is exceptional. On first inspection, you may underestimate the size and scale of this exciting dining space. The exterior reflects the traditional Irish Pub of days gone by while the inside is a perfect mesh of past and present. You’ll be warmed by the cosy open fires in the bar area, the perfect Irish welcome we say.

 

Throughout the bar and restaurant, an equine and sporting theme runs through the paintings, photographs and memorabilia on display, which harks back to the regions impressive sporting culture.

The food and drink at Mikey Ryan’s incorporates a Gastro Pub offering that puts local ingredients and flavours at its heart. Similar to the decor, Mikey Ryan’s also takes inspiration from Tipperary culture with the wealth of quality producers and farmers on their doorstep. You’ll be given an enticing bite of Tipperary when you dine here.

Quality food and hospitality is the hero of Mikey Ryan’s. Visitors can expect to find dishes on the menu changing with the seasons. There is an ethos to bake, create and cook freshly in house from scratch.

 

From fresh morning scones, croissants and pastries to homemade lunch bread and dinner rolls, freshly made sauces, house pates and terrines and all the desserts – all these are made in house.

 

The day we inspected, Chef prepared a salad starter of fresh leaves, herbs, warm pumpkin, candied seeds and Cooleeney goats cheese crumbled on top, a perfect combination of flavours.

 

For the main course, a perfectly cooked supreme of free-range Irish Chicken served with a wild mushroom, bacon and lentil sauce. This was so full of perfectly-balanced flavours that it comes as no surprise that it’s a firm favourite on their menu.

 

Other dishes include everything from Ribeye Steak to a flavourful Asian fusion veggie stirfry. Not to be outdone, the dessert selection also features mouth-watering cheesecakes, brownies and much more delights!

 

Moreover, as part of your experience, see the culinary magic at Mikey Ryan’s happen before your eyes at one of their kitchen and baking areas which is on show. Guests can experience the theatre of a live kitchen in full swing.

Mikey Ryan’s is currently fully operational and will open directly into the grounds of their sister business, The Cashel Palace Hotel from March 2022, when the new-look hotel is launched.

 

Following the opening of the hotel, Mikey Ryan’s will continue as a Gastropub to locals and visitors and will also be the casual dining option for hotel guests.

   

Sustainability

The vision for Mikey Ryan’s is to be a leader of sustainable hospitality. The team operate an environmental plan to implement their policies and strategies. Managers within the business regularly undertake extensive green training and ensure sustainable strategies are implemented throughout the business operations.

 

Mikey Ryan’s are committed to improving their environmental performance through innovative strategies. They have installed a Harp Bio-Digester that breaks down the food waste into dry organic compost material. This reduces the waste in landfills by up to 70%. The waste produced by the Bio-Digester can then be used as organic compost in the gardens. Guests are also welcome to take some of this compost home for their gardens.

 

Furthermore, the business is moving towards paperless operations which is being undertaken in the administration duties but also customer facing with the introduction of virtual menus viewed through QR codes. So far this has reduced menu printing by 80%.

 

In terms of local food provenance, Mikey Ryan’s proudly declare their local suppliers on their website in support of their local economy.
