The Barton Rooms Restaurant is the main fine dining space at Barberstown Castle Hotel. The Barton Rooms are named after Mr Hugh Barton, the architect who designed the wing in which the restaurant is located. For those looking for that exciting country house dining experience, then a visit to The Barton Rooms is a must.

Seated within the grandeur of this historic space, you can expect to enjoy a delectable menu that includes carefully selected high quality local ingredients that are used to create an exciting menu of modern dishes blended with a traditional country house feel.

Devised within set menus and a tasting menu, the Barton Rooms Restaurant is open Thursdays through to Saturday evenings along with Sunday afternoons for a delectable Sunday lunch service.

Popular dishes on the menu include a Roast Irish Lamb, along with Andarl Farm Pork Loin. There’s also a selection of fish dishes and vegetarian and other dietary-specific requirements that can easily be catered for. With a focus on Irish ingredients very much present this has seamlessly blended with dishes with a flair of French-inspired cuisine.

Dining at the Barton Rooms has proved very popular, especially their Sunday Lunch so we’d recommend booking in advance.

The Garden Bar is one of the most popular spots within Barberstown Castle. With glowing open fires, comfy lounge chairs that beg you to sit down and relax, along with views out onto the beautiful gardens, The Garden Bar is an ideal space to meet up with friends for a tasty meal and a chat.

Open throughout the day from breakfast time into the evening, the food offering starts with melt in your mouth pastries, breakfast favourites such as a Full Irish, Eggs Benedict, Pancakes and much more. There’s also a selection of fresh juices along with coffee and teas.

Following breakfast and brunch an all-day menu is available to choose from. We had the pleasure of dining in The Garden Bar during our visit to Barberstown Castle. There’s something here to suit all tastes from a nourishing Seafood Chowder to start, to a juicy Burger, Traditional Beer Battered Fish and Chips along with succulent Stout Braised Featherblade Irish Beef.

We sampled the sizzling prawn starter, which was delicious. Like with all the other dishes, the prawns were cooked fresh to order, and the prawns were perfectly sized. Seasoned to perfection, each bite was zinged with flavour.

We followed this with a bowl of creamy Carbonara that we couldn’t get enough of! The experience continued with a lovely dessert offering that included everything from an irresistible cheesecake to an Irish Coffee inspired Tiramisu and an Irish Farmhouse Cheeseboard.

Once again the staff were on-hand to answer queries about the menu and give suggestions with ease. A full wine list was available, with a variety by the glass. A cocktail menu was also available to add to the decadence. The whole experience was full of warmth and thoroughly enjoyable.

Barberstown Castle’s traditional pub offering comes in the form of the Haggard Bar. This unique and atmospheric space dates back to the 15th century when it operated as a coach house. With a cosy open fire and low intimate lighting, not to mention the beer on-tap, you’ll feel right at home in this pub.
