Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Killarney National Park, The Brehon Hotel & Spa offers a contemporary hospitality experience. This elegant 4-star hotel combines refined accommodation, relaxed luxury and genuine Irish hospitality, within walking distance of Killarney town.

 

Service at the hotel reflects a genuine pride in Irish hospitality, with knowledgeable and attentive staff delivering warm, professional service. Throughout the property, there is a clear commitment to showcasing Irish craftsmanship and supporting local producers including locally crafted furnishings and artwork.

 

Opened in 2004, the hotel features 125 stylish bedrooms and suites, including an impressive Presidential Suite, alongside a luxury spa, fitness facilities and extensive conference and meeting spaces. The hotel offers a variety of food and beverage experiences with a strong emphasis on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients throughout the menus.

 

Danú Restaurant serves as the hotel’s main dining room, offering both breakfast and dinner in a bright and spacious setting. The two-level Brehon Bar serves food throughout the day in more relaxed surroundings. For a more atmospheric experience, Badb Bar has a unique basement location with cosy alcoves and a speakeasy-style ambiance.

 

Afternoon Tea is served on Sunday afternoons, providing an additional dining option for guests and visitors.

Dining

The food served at The Brehon is contemporary Irish cuisine using local ingredients and delivered throughout with genuine hospitality. The menus strike a good balance with a variety of dishes to choose from and include descriptions of the local food producers and suppliers whose food features on them.

 

Guests can enjoy well presented, flavour-filled dishes, and dietary requirements are thoughtfully accommodated. Knowledgeable staff with a strong understanding of both the menus and local produce are on hand to assist guests.

Large expansive windows overlook the stunning Killarney National Park, creating a wonderful sense of light and connection to the surrounding landscape. In addition to the main dining area, several quieter alcoves provide a more intimate dining experience while still retaining the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant. Dinner guests can choose between a set menu or the flexibility of an à la carte offering.

 

Danú Restaurant serves contemporary Irish cuisine. Seasonal and locally sourced produce plays a central role throughout the menu, with Irish producers clearly acknowledged, reflecting the hotel’s commitment to supporting local food suppliers and showcasing regional ingredients.

 

Guests can also enjoy recommended wine pairings, creating a complete food and drink experience.

Bedrooms were designed with the intention of bringing the beauty of Killarney National Park inside. From rustic charm to modern elegance, every room offers a seamless blend of nature and luxurious comfort, making each stay a truly immersive experience in the heart of the Park.

 

The modern, spacious rooms feature high-quality furnishings, premium linen and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Thoughtful in-room amenities include tea and coffee-making facilities with fresh milk provided in the fridge, and filtered water in refillable glass bottles.

 

Throughout the accommodation, there is a clear emphasis on Irish craftsmanship and local provenance. The wood panelling in the rooms was handcrafted by local tradesmen and the furniture has been locally sourced. The artwork on the walls comes from a local artist.

 


Sustainability

The hotel has a designated Green Team that monitors progress and focuses on developing their sustainability policies where they audit waste, energy, and water monthly to identify areas that can be improved. When considering products and suppliers they focus on using local suppliers to reduce carbon emissions generated by transportation.

 

The Brehon Hotel is a signed partner in the Killarney Coffee Cup Project and no longer uses disposable coffee cups.

 

The use of water dispensers provides filtered water for all guests and uses refillable glass bottles which reduces the need for any single use bottles.

 

Bedrooms have refillable toiletries, and reusable glass milk bottles are available for tea and coffee instead of UHT milk, in the Heritage Bedrooms.
