The Basilico Restaurant in Oranmore holds an AA Rosette for culinary excellence. The restaurant dishes up authentic pizza, pasta, pannacotta and plenty more favourites besides.

Fabiano Mulas and Paolo Sabatini, owners and co-founders of the restaurant hail from Sardinia and Viterbo near Rome respectively and bring their passion for Italian food to the West of Ireland. They source the highest quality seasonal produce for their dishes which are a winning combination of local and Italian ingredients. Olive oil comes from Calabria while meat, fish, and fresh produce are sourced locally.

From antipasti to arancini, tagliatelle to tiramisu the dishes at Basilico Restaurant sing with the flavours and favourites of Italy. The pizza dough and pasta are made fresh every day in the kitchen and so too are the pastries and bread. The food here is fresh and flavoursome and there is a wonderful mix of carefully sourced Italian artisan produce and local ingredients.

Of course, being an Italian restaurant there is a terrific selection of wines which pair perfectly with the dishes. The wine list is updated each season with new additions to the wine cellar being made due to regular trips back to Italy to discover new and exciting bottles to bring back.

The food is dished up in contemporary yet classical surroundings and there is a lovely relaxed ambience throughout.

Basilico Restaurant really is a taste of Italy served with warm Irish hospitality.

The 16 en-suite bedrooms at the Coach House Hotel have a cosy and comfortable feel thanks to a palette of calming neutral tones. Large beds, comfy armchairs, heavy drapes and soft lighting create a warm and relaxing vibe.

The bathrooms feature a tub and shower and there are plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries to have a pamper session after a long hard day seeing the sites.

Sustainability

At Basilico, all produce is sourced locally where possible and menus are designed around seasonal ingredients.

Both Fabiano and Paolo have made significant efforts to source the best local products. Brady’s butchery in Athenry supplies the meat and seafood that come from Gannet Fishmongers in Galway. You’ll also see on the menu products from Achill Mountain Lamb, Castlemine Farm Roscommon, Green Earth Organics and Italycatessen.
