Located on the first floor of the hotel, The Tan Yard is an impressive and unique dining setting. The restaurant’s name is a direct representation of the interior design along with the history of old tan yards in Killarney.

 

You’ll witness features of exposed wood and fine leather seating which is all influenced by this local historic industry along with the nearby National Park with its ancient wooded areas.

When we had the pleasure of visiting, Chef produced an amazing tasting menu that included local Kerry Venison, among other delights.

 

The menu changes quite frequently, in keeping with the seasons and is a showcase of the skill and techniques that the culinary team have mastered. One enticing concept that will delight diners is the ‘Local Legacy dish which is a regular feature on the menus. On this dish, every ingredient is sourced within the Kerry area.

 

Food and drink go hand in hand at The Tan Yard and there’s a good selection of wines, drinks and cocktails available from the bar. The evening we dined in the restaurant the bartender was creating and serving up one of their signature cocktails with great skills on show!

The Killarney Urban Farm represents The O’ Donoghue Ring Collection’s pioneering sustainable initiative in Ireland’s hospitality industry. The Killarney Urban Farm is Ireland’s first hydroponic urban farm which supplies fresh, healthy and pesticide-free salads and herbs to the collection’s hotels, restaurants and cafes along with fellow businesses within the Kerry region.

 

These vertical growing systems can operate year-round, ensuring a constant supply of fresh produce. Their vertical nature allows for the urban farm to operate in a smaller space which doesn’t compromise the volume of fresh produce grown.

 

The Killarney Urban Farm is a vital part of the larger sustainable initiative from The O’Donoghue Ring Collection, known as ‘Our Green Way’. The initiative aims to support the wider environment with goals and changes within the Collection’s daily operations. These goals include reducing their carbon footprint, reducing food miles and many more within the wider community.
