OverviewDiscover the beauty of the Ring of Kerry before devouring a hearty meal of the finest local seafood in QC’s Seafood Restaurant and then getting a good night’s sleep in the beautifully appointed Quinlan & Cooke Boutique Townhouse. A stay at Quinlan & Cooker Boutique Townhouse isn’t like a hotel stay. Run by the wonderfully warm and welcoming Cooke family, guests not only get the key to their room but to the main front door too. You can come and go as you please and treat it like your home away from home, albeit a luxury home with great views and great gourmet experiences.
One of the best places to eat along the Ring of Kerry is QCs Seafood Restaurant and Bar on the main street in Cahirciveen. Here, the house speciality is fish and shellfish fresh from Kate Cookes’ family’s boats.
When it comes to breakfast, there is mini fridge in each room filled with organic fruit compotes with natural yogurt, homemade granola, fresh fruit salad, mineral water and organic juices. You’ll also find a selection of freshly baked croissants and muffins hung on your door whilst you sleep. Rooms have a proper coffee making machine too and a selection of teas. This means you can have a lazy breakfast in the privacy of your own bedroom.
The small and cosy QC’s Seafood Restaurant serves a wide range of specialist seafood and Irish dishes in casual yet elegant surroundings. When the weather is fine, you can eat al fresco in the charming sheltered terrace area.
On the menu, you’ll find the best of the catch from Valentia Harbour and seasonal delights like crab claws, mackerel and lobster, as well as favourites like hake and monkfish. Of course, you’ll also find dishes to suit all palates including excellent local meats like rack of Kerry lamb, pork and steaks and a healthy dose of vegetarian and gluten-free options too. The quality of the ingredients and the high standard of cooking really stand out in each dish.
The bar area is comfortable with a blazing fire during the winter months, and sometimes the summer months too (welcome to Ireland) and the bar has a lovely, friendly vibe with lots of chat and craic from locals and tourists alike. It is the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub.
