Upon entering, you’re greeted with a large foyer with plenty of comfy seating and a cosy fireplace. During our visit the team were preparing for Christmas, busily putting up Christmas trees with twinkling lights and decorations. This added to the charm and warmth felt when visiting the hotel. The hotel is also very popular with locals, you’ll notice local clubs, organisations and families having their parties and gatherings here.

Dining

In terms of the food offering, the Newpark Hotel’s lovely atmosphere is nicely complimented by food that is made from fresh ingredients and most if not all of the food is sourced from local suppliers.

The hotel works closely with a local farmer who also produces whiskey and other spirits. The discarded mash from the whiskey and gin process is fed back to the live animals. The hotel purchases as much meat as possible from this sustainable operation.

Delicious food is provided throughout the day, for residents the breakfast buffet is served from 7am to 11am on weekends. During the day, the traditional favourite carvery menu is available from 12pm-3pm while a bar food menu runs from late afternoon to 9pm.

For those with special dietary requirements, you’ll be assured with allergen listings on each menu while those with little mouths to feed, there are separate children’s sections on the bar menu and half portions are available from the carvery.

Location wise, Scotts Bar & Brasserie is the main dining area in the hotel, there are also lounge areas to enjoy a coffee and a treat along with outdoor dining spots too.

Scotts Bar & Brasserie is the main dining spot in the Newpark Hotel. Spacious with plenty of seating, Scotts Bar gives a feel of a traditional pub with its low lighting and dark wood decor. Comfortable dark leather booths invite you to sit back and relax to enjoy a great meal.

When we arrived in the afternoon, we were feeling a little peckish so we enjoyed a tasty toasted special sandwich and a pot of tea. This hit the spot and was so good!

During dinner, we dined in Scotts Bar & Brasserie. Here we tried out the Salmon Teriyaki which was piping hot and very well presented. We savoured each bite. The salmon was plentiful and grilled separately which was served on a bed of rice and oriental vegetables. Portions are plentiful so you’ll feel well fed after your meal.

To finish off your dining experience, you’ll find a selection of tasty desserts including a twist on the classic bread and butter pudding along with a banoffee and eton mess combo. If you lean more towards savoury, there’s also a great cheese plate featuring a selection of Irish Farmhouse cheeses.
