MEET THE BAKERS

A prestigious line up of some of Ireland’s best bakers is set to take place at Highbank Organic Orchard, Cuffesgrange, Co. Kilkenny, this month. On Saturday 24th January,a panel which includes Declan Ryan of Arbutus Bread, Cork, Joe Fitzmaurice from  Riot Rye and Josephine Plettenburg, Spelt Bakers, will gather on the sofa to talk all things bread. Meet the Bakers is an informal discussion in a relaxed atmosphere,  where the audience is encouraged to ask as many questions as they wish, and enjoy the banter between the bakers! The occasion, run in conjuction with Slow Food East, celebrates the launch of #realbreadireland . This is the second year for this event , which was extremely popular in 2014. A great opportunity to find what these movers shakers of the bread world have been up to in the past 12 months. Also to meet the producers of Highbank Organic Apple Juices and the heavenly Highbank Organic Syrup,  a thick dark syrup to knock the socks off maple syrup! Hear about the new developments at Highbank, including the cider range made from the farm’s own organic apples. Highbank Driver’s Cider is a rich and satisfying non alcoholic cider which takes like the boozy version, you won’t feel deprived! Highbank Proper Cider is a ripe and fruity Irish craft cider. HIghbankMedieval Cider is honeyed, to make a traditional mead like drink from days of old. Joining these is the newly launched Highbank Orchard Spirit, made at the brand new Highbank Distillery, the smallest spirit distillery in Ireland. What a treat in store – top bakers and cider makers and a distillery to see – where would you be going?! Places are limited so early booking absolutely essential. Do this on www.biabeag.com
