OverviewWild About Foods is a multi-award-winning environmentally sustainable artisan producer making products made fresh from seasonal produce sourced locally and grown on their sustainable permaculture farm in County Wexford. Using a traditional vegetable garden and polytunnel, which yields seasonal vegetables and salads, their homegrown produce forms the basis of a super range of handcrafted artisan dressings, syrups, chutneys and snacks.
Meet The Maker
Wild About products were born through a huge lifestyle change for The Falconers. Life in London and careers in product design and documentary film making were swapped for the good life in the Wexford countryside. Dubliner Fiona was the Irish connection, but destination Wexford was chosen by sticking a pin in a map! Ecological building skills have created a passive house, and Malcolm’s agricultural childhood on a smallholding in south Wales prompted the profuse planting of the garden. Everything grown here is organic.
Wild about is a multi-award-winning environmentally sustainable artisan producer and Local Food Hero creating a range of low carbon, low sugar, sustainable foods made fresh from seasonal produce sourced locally and grown on their sustainable permaculture farm in County Wexford. Ranges change with the seasonal harvests and they specialise in native wild ingredients, Ireland’s own superfoods.
A walk through the forage forest reveals sloes, haws, rosehips, crab apples, wild pears, quince and a whole host of other delicious seasonal produce. Herb patches send heavenly fragrances through the garden. In spring and early summer, a huge nettle patch provides healthy pickings. The tunnel flourishes with chillies, tomatoes, courgettes and more. With all this to hand, the Wild About range has something different to offer.
All items are hand made in small batches and once the season has ended for a particular plant or fruit, a new product is created from whatever is available in the garden.
