Spring, Paddy’s Day and Easter Breaks at The Heron’s Rest

Spring, Paddy’s Day and Easter Breaks at The Heron’s Rest Paddy’s Weekend is almost upon us and it’s the perfect time of year to escape Galway and immerse yourself in a city that bustles with craic. The festivities will continue into the following weekend when the 5th annual Galway Food festival will coincide with Easter weekend. Enjoy the parades, festivities and feast on delicious food in a city famous for its culture and heritage. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a peaceful night’s rest after all the shenanigans (and there are certainly shenanigans to be had in Galway!) than a quaint little Irish B&B.

The Heron’s Rest Boutique B&B, is just the spot to curl up and enjoy a well-earned sleep. But it’s not just the lovely country home style rooms we’re after, it’s also the food. Think seasonal, think decorative, think fully harnessing local ingredients until you can be left nothing but impressed.

Sorcha Molloy does it all in this beautiful little corner of Galway, she leaves no stone unturned greeting her guests with a complimentary afternoon tea on St. Patrick’s Weekend. Set the tone for your escape with a host of treats. Savour fresh Oysters, Smoked Mackerel Paté and Organic Smoked Salmon! This is afternoon tea unlike anything you’ve ever had before. Plates stuffed with homemade apple and rhubarb tarts oozing with flavour, good homemade brown bread, quality Irish cheese, and freshly baked sweet berry muffins. Follow this with a sip of freshly roasted coffee or even a glass of Guinness.

This is only a taster of what’s to come. Take a deep breath and prepare yourself for a menu that will make you want to book now. They’re celebrating Galway’s 100 Years of Irish Food with a remarkable spread. This will be traditional Irish food, with a twist. Specialties will be hard to choose from with dishes like vintage cheddar & leek boxty, poached organic salmon, battling it out with for your attention fresh crab cakes, organic greens & pickled radish. Other temptations will include baked eggs, roasted field mushrooms, pearl barley porridge and apple syrup poured over buckwheat pancaked. We can almost taste it, just writing about it!

To celebrate Easter Weekend each of the guestrooms will be treated to a goodie bag which includes Hazel mountain chocolates, the soap company minis and a surprise souvenir of their visit to The Herons Rest.

If all that wasn’t enough, they’re also offering a special discount for anyone booking 3 nights. At the Herons Rest to celebrate the start of their 13th year in business, they are offering a spring special – book 2 nights and enjoy the third night at 50% discount throughout March and April. Quote: Spring13 in the booking.
