Overview

The Celtic Ross Hotel offers an enticing package of great food, hospitality and accommodation amongst the beautiful backdrop of West Cork.

A lasting first impression of the Celtic Ross starts when you approach from Clonakilty and come across the causeway crossing the Lagoon at Rosscarbery. The landmark of the hotel’s stone-clad round tower comes into view. This imposing new tower was constructed on the site of the old Victoria Tower originally built in 1890 by William Charles Barron Carbery and dedicated to his wife, Victoria, Lady Carbery.

The Celtic Ross Hotel was built in 1997 by Gerry Wycherly and is still in the ownership of the Wycherly family. This family-friendly hotel is located at the start of the village of Rosscarbery on the water’s edge. The causeway takes traffic across the tidal lagoon on the main road from Clonakilty to Skibbereen and the wider West Cork area.

The Celtic Ross Hotel was name-checked as one of the top 50 places to stay in Ireland. This award-winning hotel is matched with a very friendly welcome delivered by knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. This is a family-friendly hotel, a central base for touring and visiting the West Cork tourist hot spots and a hotel of choice for relaxing, enjoying the hotel facilities and recharging the batteries. Close to the hotel, there are a number of safe swimming beaches. On the waterfront beside the hotel, there is a water-based activity centre offering a range of fun activities.

The Kingfisher Restaurant.

Situated off the hotel lobby, The Kingfisher Restaurant faces onto the waterfront. Chef Shane Deane prides himself in presenting a menu peppered with ingredients from local and West Cork artisan suppliers. Shane proudly name-checks the local producers that he uses. The team at the Celtic Ross have a real zest for local food.

The quality, flavour and presentation of the food is amazing with a lot of innovation introduced to the menu ideas. When paying a visit, we tasted the Irish Monkfish Scampi served with Irish pak choi and a Thai salad along with the Paupiettes of Plaice and Smoked Mackerel. Delicious! One of the main sources of fresh fish is Irish fish landed at the nearby port in Union Hall.

The large covered terraced area to the front of the hotel is a suntrap and very popular for lunch and all-day food.
The team at the Celtic Ross have staged foodie weekends showcasing the local producers. Food, service and hospitality is a winner in this hotel, so you can be assured of a fantastic getaway here.
