Two Outstanding Donegal Businesses

Join the Prestigious Good Food Ireland® Collection

Immediate Release - September 2025

Good Food Ireland® is proud to announce the addition of two exceptional Donegal-based businesses to its exclusive Collection: The Yellow Pepper Restaurant in Letterkenny and The Crolly Distillery in West Donegal. Both have been recognised for their unwavering commitment to local sourcing, sustainability and authentic Irish food and drink experiences.

Dr Detta Melia, representing Good Food Ireland®, visited both establishments and was hugely impressed by the quality, passion and dedication on display.

The Yellow Pepper Restaurant, owned and operated by Carol Meenan, her husband Kieran Davis and their team, many of them working there for 25 years, has long been a cornerstone of the Donegal food scene. Known for its strong emphasis on seasonal ingredients, support for local producers and vibrant, flavoursome dishes, The Yellow Pepper perfectly embodies the Good Food Ireland® philosophy. From farm to fork, Carol’s team consistently delivers an experience that celebrates the best of Irish produce with heart and integrity.

Carol Meenan expressed her delight at the recognition: “It’s a real honour to be welcomed into the Good Food Ireland® Collection. Supporting local has always been at the heart of what we do. Donegal is full of amazing producers and we’re proud to showcase their work on every plate. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our team and the community that supports us.”

Just a short drive away, The Crolly Distillery offers a rich and immersive journey into the world of Irish whiskey. As the first operational distillery in Donegal in over 180 years, The Crolly Distillery combines traditional distilling methods with local heritage to craft spirits that are already gaining recognition both at home and abroad. Their commitment to quality and storytelling makes them a perfect fit for the Good Food Ireland® Collection.

“We are delighted to officially welcome The Yellow Pepper and The Crolly Distillery to the Good Food Ireland® Collection,” said Margaret Jeffares, Founder of Good Food Ireland®. “Their passion for provenance, dedication to the local economy and high standards of hospitality are exactly what we seek in our Collection. They are both outstanding ambassadors for Donegal and for Ireland’s food and drink culture.”

Their inclusion in the Good Food Ireland® Collection celebrates The Crolly Distillery and The Yellow Pepper Restaurant as true champions of Donegal’s vibrant local food and drink scene.
