IRELAND IN THE UK

London UK. Capital of England and hub of a thriving food and restaurant culture. A city that never sleeps,  in culinary terms. The drive to offer great food to the many residents and visitors of this super city has long been established. From the earliest days of the great hotel restaurants to the traditional Pie, Mash and Jellied Eel shops of the East End,  the introduction of Nouvelle Cuisine with it’s tiny portions and pretty presentation, the modern upsurge in ‘Celebrity Chef’ restaurants and  lively buzz and street food of Borough Market – on of the best food markets on the planet. It’s all here.  No wonder then, London was chosen recently as the stage to launch Good Food Ireland in the UK.  Anton Mosimann, one of the country’s leading and most longstanding Executive Chefs, formerly of the Dorchester Hotel, recently welcomed the Good Food Ireland team to his beautiful Mayfair Dining Club ‘Mosimann’s’. Anton has always delighted in the freshest ingredients and presentation of same in exciting and innovative style. So he was thrilled to get his hands on some of Ireland’s special produce to create a sumptuous dinner to mark the launch.  His delicious dinner menu included smoked fish and meats from the Burren, Connemara and Ummera artisan Smokehouses, best quality grass fed beef from the pedigree herd of  Irish Piemontese Beef and farmhouse cheeses like Milleens and Cooleeney. To finish,  Glastry Farm Ice Cream laced with Kilbeggan Whiskey!  The evening was a huge success, with UK journalists attending the launch hailing the produce of Ireland has some of the best in the world. Sure, we knew that already, didn’t we?!
